    Early Life and Career

Iverson’s passion for sports began at a young age. A hip condition kept him at home for nearly two years, during which he spent afternoons with his grandfather in a betting shop.

There, he developed an interest in horse racing and sports betting. This early exposure laid the foundation for his future career in sports trading.

In 2006, Iverson started exploring sports trading markets with an initial capital of just £250. After reading books and articles on trading, he decided to adopt a more structured approach, focusing on in-play trading rather than traditional activities.

This strategic shift allowed him to accumulate significant profits over time.

    Specialization in Cricket

Although Iverson initially experimented with trading in various sports, he decided in 2009 to focus primarily on cricket, recognizing the opportunities it presented. Cricket, with its long matches and high liquidity in markets, proved ideal for his approach to the profession.

Iverson highlighted how cricket matches, especially tournaments like the Indian Premier League (IPL), can see trades exceeding £30 million per match, offering vast opportunities for traders. However, he stressed the importance of understanding the game, which is far from simple.

    Methodical and Analytical Approach

Iverson is well-regarded for his disciplined approach to trading, earning immense respect among enthusiasts in the field.

Before each match, he conducts thorough analysis to predict possible scenarios and identify trading opportunities. This approach enables him to recognize when markets overreact or deviate from the actual state of play.

He developed a structured framework to follow for every match, helping him maintain discipline and execute strategies without hesitation. Iverson is a prime example of control and discipline in sports trading.

    Sharing Experiences

From 2006 to 2014, Iverson maintained a blog documenting his journey in sports trading, sharing his experiences, strategies, and lessons learned.

This blog became a valuable resource, offering advice and insights for many aspiring traders, while providing an honest view of the challenges and successes in sports trading.

Although he stopped updating the blog in 2014 to focus on full-time trading, its archive remains available for those interested in his experiences.

Iverson has also participated in various interviews and podcasts, sharing his insights into sports trading. In an interview with Matchbook, he discussed his journey to becoming a professional trader, the lessons he learned, and the methods that enabled his success.

    Beyond Cricket

While cricket formed the core of Iverson’s trading activities, he also traded in other sports.

In the past, he engaged in rugby, NFL and darts. However, in 2012, he reduced his trading on darts due to the presence of “board-siders” – individuals with access to faster data or images, making fair competition difficult.

This shift led him to focus more on cricket, where he found a more favorable environment for his highly structured strategies.

    Challenges and Successes

Iverson’s journey in sports trading was not without challenges.

He faced periods of losses and had to adapt his strategies in response to market changes and betting platform policies. For instance, the introduction of Betfair’s premium charges increased pressure to maintain sustainable income, prompting him to concentrate even more on trading while reducing other activities, such as managing his blog.

Despite these challenges, Iverson achieved remarkable success. His adaptability, discipline, and analytical approach allowed him to build a sustainable career in the field. His story demonstrates that with dedication and a well-planned strategy, it is possible to turn a passion for sports into a full-time profession, one that is both rewarding and stimulating.
